What Trouble Brews Here…This Cannot Be

Not too long ago, I walked in to a radio conversation where women were chatting about athletes and the ones who were best and worst at sex.  And, woe be my heart, male runners took quite a pounding. (It begged saying.) I have no personal frame of reference for this as my significant other does not run, so he’s pretty busy, pretty often.

I could only wonder if this was due to flat-out overexertion, perhaps too many miles, too fast, too long? Or…the inability to leave running, however temporarily, at the threshold, so other cross-training could occur? Perhaps there is a preoccupation or even obsession with so much exercise that the body and spirit are not game for anything else. Could there possibly be a physiological negative impact on sexuality from running for men?

How to help…

Really, as with much of life, little things matter most. I suggest that scheduling in team building is essential. Grab ten minutes a day to start, every day.  Consistency is important here. You only get better at what you practice.  Endurance will grow, creativity will proliferate and before long, balance and harmony will return. No need to make this and all-out, woo-hoo affair. If it goes that way, fine. If not, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Win-win for all involved.

Because…where the reputation of runners is concerned, no challenge is insurmountable.
